The Difference
Most hens are confined to cages in long rows inside huge houses. Cage free hens, by contrast, are able to walk freely inside the building in which they are housed and lay eggs in nests. It doesn’t always mean they get fresh air or the sunshine, but they are freer to walk around. NPR reports that theses hens often get about 1 square foot of space on average.
We like to give our chickens a choice to live a better way. Free range means that they get outdoor time. They are allowed the daylight hours to move around the fields as they want. We make sure they have plenty of fresh grass to roam around on and eat to their little heart's content.
We buy our chickens locally here in Idaho and we raise them without the use of antibiotics or hormones
We do not trim our bird’s beaks
Our birds go inside on their own as the sun goes down, till then they roam outside
We are a small farm and don’t have over 200 birds at any given time. They have plenty of room to roam, giving them great freedom to get fresh grass and help to keep our bug population down
They love the scraps from our harvest and help us cut back on waste
